QUEENS OF THE STONE AGES – MOSQUITO SONG

mosquito ,please drink our blood!!!!!
Being the ramblings of an eccentric old lady with a grudge against mosquitoes, this song contains the word “cousin” somewhere in the region of 200 times. It was recorded circa 1965 at IBC Studios, Portland Place, London. She claimed to be a govt. minister from Liberia (the Hon. Malinda….) but carried her belongings in a paper carrier-bag. I think this features on a weird album named Songs In The Key Of Z or something. There’s also a Cousin Mosquito #2 but I’ve never heard it all the way through (unlike this, which is hilarious, #2 is just boring). Her other number was “Forward March Liberians.” Rumour has it she was a delightful lady!

Sorry to blow your vid but that is not a mosquito. It is a chironomid (Gnat)(non-biting midge)doesn’t suck blood at all. Still a good song though.

I attended the same church as “Ma Parker” You could see her walking the streets of Monrovia . Her maker up was very heavy. She was a very friendly woman. She supported our youth camp by purching a cake for the rally we had it the youth camp.

she actually *was* a government minister, as well. She served a 6-year term in Liberia’s House of Representatives in the 1950s during the William Tubman administration.

That has to be one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever heard. My public health professor linked us to this for the lecture on “emerging infections.”

Thanks for uploading this. I have heard it on Matinee Idol, now I have a copy of my own.

this song has it all – a glorious voice, wonderful lyrics and piano backing at its best, social commentary, the most delightful chorus – and not to mention a hint of humour … at least that’s how I hear it!
