May I sue the Church for lying about Jesus returning soon ?

Fraud
I’ve heard this for years. The churches say He’s coming back soon. He’s a no show. Should I sue the Churches for fraud ?

False advertising!
What about the people who say the world is ending tomorrow?

Actually, you really can’t consider him a no show, because they never really told you exactly when, they just say soon. Soon means different things to different people.

Only if they put an exact date on it. “Soon” is a relative term, and all times are “soon” to God.
If they tried to put an exact date on it, then they’re probably not a church that really knows God or His word.

Good one. Sue them for lying about people going to Hell.
Hitler tortured and killed 6 million, but God is going to torture at least 6 Billion for not accepting Jesus. What a crock.

I’m sure you could, but you’d lose the case because they’d counter with the fact that they never gave you an exact date.
Go for it anyway, it would get you your 15 minutes of fame!

Well if the church is wrong, you have nothing to worry about, but if they are right, I will feel bad for you as we wave on our way up in the rapture. Which is coming soon, but all the things prophetized haven’t come true yet. They sure are lining uo fast though.

No, I believe He is coming soon according to the Bible. But I should sue them for for trauma telling me in the first grade that my parents would burn in hell for all eternity because they didn’t attend church regularly….

(2Pe 3:8) But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
(2Pe 3:9) The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
(2Pe 3:10) But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
(2Pe 3:11) Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,
(2Pe 3:12) Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
(2Pe 3:13) Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
(2Pe 3:14) Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
(2Pe 3:15) And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
(2Pe 3:16) As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other Scriptures, unto their own destruction.
(2Pe 3:17) Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own steadfastness.
(2Pe 3:18) But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever. Amen.

I highly doubt you are an apostate for one, because a question like this makes it highly unbelievable that you even had anything to do with Jesus, but to answer your question:
A church is a non-profit agency. So unless you desire suing an individual, the likelyhood that you will actually be able to sue is very much unlikely. Especially considering that your are basing your case on the word “soon.”
However, if you want to go after a specific group, the Watchtower Society (Jehovah’s Witnesses) have falsely predicted the date of the end of the world several times now. So you would have a better chance there.

I don’t see why not.
This matter can be resolved if people, Christians in particular, were a little more honest with themselves.
You can believe that Jesus will fall out of the sky and deliver you from your faults and foibles, but just accept the possibility, if not likelihood, that he ain’t coming back.

Oh…based on YOUR limited definition of ‘soon’, I take it? And you’re sure he’s not already here somewhere, in some fashion, touching your life while you look elsewhere for ‘a sign’?

Do you know that with God, a day could mean a hundred or a thousand years? His time span is Different from ours.Jesus Christs’coming might be taking sooooooo long, but dont you think it is because He is being PATIENT WITH US,still giving us time to mend our wicked ways and to reform our lives by acting on His Commands which is to LOVE GOD ABOVE ALL AND TO LOVE OUR ENEMIES?

no you cant..sry…soon is a broad ranged time span…it can be from 1 second soon to 5 trillian years soon…if they gave u a set date, then maybe…but if all they said was soon, then ur s.o.l.

That would be awsome.
Ever since Jesus took off christians have thought he was coming back in their lifetime and as they die and years pass generations of christians have been proven wrong and wrong again.
If you take what the bible says about jesus coming back again in a gnostic sense, then Jesus christs returns when we manifest Jesus christ.

If you have a written contract you have both agreed on ahead of time, or a firm set of witnesses that will testify for you and you can prove that despite having supplied your part of the deal that the Church hasn’t in an oral contract… .
Wait. You Did Fulfill Your Part Of The Contract, didn’t you? You didn’t? In multiple unspeakably vile ways?
Maybe the Church – should sue you!

you have no grounds unless they gave you an exact time and date, because time is relative and soon can mean in the next thousand years OR it can mean in a few minutes. It would take Jesus Himself to win that case for you!
MissKathleen, lemme guess- those were Catholics telling you that your parents would burn in hell for not going to church right!?

It’s a waste of time, because they even would’nt understand, what you are asking…. and me too i dont understand it. because it is not the returning of Jesus. It is the returning of Christ, and Christ already was here, but please have a look in my profile I already have answered that question.
