If you have a fly in a screen-type jar ( don’t ask )
and he can get air, but he can’t get food, will he eventually die?
How long do you think it will take for the fly to die if it only has air?

Quite a long time. Flies have been around for millions of years and they can adapt very well.

probably 3-7 days. if you want you can cut up a piece of fruit or put a bowl with sugar water in there for it and it may live for weeks
