What’s worse tick bites or mosquito bites.?
Jul.24, 2011 in
Fleas
My boss and I are arguing over what is worse to get a tick bite or a mosquito bite. He says he is much more afraid he will get a disease from a mosquito than a tick. I disagree I would be more scared to get bitten by a tick. Whats your opinion and why?
Thanks to everyone who answered!

Neither actually. Alligator bites are much worse than either.

tick, because I’m only 20 years old so I know that if I get west nile from a mosquito that I’m not in any real danger. However, lyme disease would affect me at any age.

Well ticks can carry lyme disease and mosquitos west nile, so take your pick. LOL But yeah having a tick burrow himself in my skin kinda freaks me out too.

Both are vectors that can harbor diseases. The question would be, which mosquito or tick is carrying the most dangerous disease? Plus, ticks embed themselves under the skin if not removed right away.

well when you get bit by a tick its not like it just bites you and flies away like mosquito’s….there head actually detaches from there body and burrows into you skin…the only way to get it out is with a lighter or flame….or to get a flat card or paper to get it out…its very painful and causes very very bad infections if not taken care of right away….besides…ticks carry the same disease that mosquito’s do….so id have to say ticks are worse.

Both carry diseases, but I think the tick is worse. I would be afraid of mosquitos in a foriegn country but not as much in the US. I’d be more afraid of ticks because of Lyme Disease.

I feel like it would be a tick bite for the pure and simple reason that my dad almost died from a tick bite. He got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and was in a coma for several days. His Fever went up to 108.5 . He was in the hospital for several weeks. He still has problems from it and it has been nearly 20 years ago that this happened. Any little thing makes him sick now and he keeps it longer than he used to. If he gets a cold he will have it twice as long as he used too. His immune system was really weakened by this little bitty TICK. But hey everybody has their own opinions and fears.

Right now, I’d vote for mosquito bites. They can give you both West Nile virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (to which, despite its name, humans can also fall victim), at least if you live in the Eastern United States.
Not to mention that mosquitoes are responsible for Malaria, Dengue Fever, and Yellow Fever, which are all pretty nasty although not very common in the U.S.

Geez…that’s a good one. On one hand, you have the mosiquito that delivers an itchy bite, yet even more severe, carries diseases such as milaria and yellow fever. Then you have the tick – let’s say a deer tick that could transmit a disease capabale of causing major damage in the long run. Both are cases I would not want to be found… however, I don’t get bitten by a tick very often *looks at leg* I have a few mosquito bites already, so I would probably be more anxious if bitten by a tick. O_O

In my opinion it is far worse to get bit by a tick. This is because their heads actually go into your skin and if you pull them out wrong you could get their heads stuck in you which then you could get lime disease. Where as with mosquitos you may get west nile but you can get over that. A tick gives you a disease and to make things worse lime disease is a disease in your blood so it is extremely hard to cure. West mile can be treated with a shott but lime disease can’t. I know these things because I live in the country and have both ticks and mosquitos where I live. If your boss still doesn’t believe you after you tell him this, tell him to get a hold of me at katlynnbrown@yahoo.com
Hope this helps you.

Tick bites can be very dangerous and cause limes disease in which there is no cure for. Mosquito bites on the other hand, can be a pain, but will fade in time. There are many diseases that are carried by mosquito’s in many country’s around the world and some do cause death. I would have to agree with mosquito’s being the worse of the two, but either way they are both equally dangerous in there own right.

Ticks scare me more even though you can get diseases from both. Ticks borrow into your skin if they get the chance. Mosquitos you can usually see when they land on you. Then squash em. Ticks are sneaky little basta*ds they’ll hide then creep to a place and sink thier little heads into your soft flesh and feed off your blood like the vampires that they are. And lyme disease left untreated can be very serious it will screw up your nervous system and heart. Most healthy people can survive west nile and not even know they had it.
