Avon Skin-so-Soft lotion works GREAT! My family doesn’t use bug spray anymore, and it smells WAY better than bug spray.

When I used to drink a lot of alcohol and smoke the skeeters never bothered me. Now that I don’t do those things they swarm all over me….go figure. Offer them a teeny-tiny drink and smoke and see if that gets them to back off!

Whatever you do, son’t do the sugar water, that only attracts them. Get fabric softener sheet and rub your arms and legs with it then put it in your pocket. That will keep them away!

I live in Florida and Avon sells a body oil called Skin So Soft and it really works keeping mosquitos off. It even works for pets if you put a little on them, the fleas stay away from them.. and it makes your skin, oh so soft!

My granddaughter just went to the doctor for that very reason, it sounds like they are attracted to you as well. First of all the doctor had us put a mixture of baking soda and water on the bites. Had her take oral benadryl and cortizone cream for the bites. Most likely its because of your shampoo, perfume, deodorant smell that attracks them. The strongest spray is HEET, try that and see if it works. And wear long sleeves, pants and socks. It should be white and light weight material. I know that its hot out so you will probably a little uncomfortable in the heat but I think the bites are much more annoying.

They are atracted to sugar, so I wouldn’t recommend rubbing it all over your body unless you want the bites everywhere
Your best bet is to purchase repelant especially made for mosquitos. Try to find sweat proof since you walk a lot.
Good luck.

Take garlic supplements. Mosquitoes hate that. you won’t get as many bite and there’s really no negative effects of it.

There’s sun block with bug repelent in it, that works better because you rub it on to your skin and doesn’t come off as easy when you sweat.
I’ve notice sprays wear off when I’m active like walking or playing sports.
Good luck.

Forget the Off. Get Cutter’s it is made for hunters and campers. Also if it is not too hot where long sleeves and long pants when you walk and avoid areas that has alot of water standing. Pools, ponds and farmland have more mosquitoes than anyone. Also they make wrist bands and necklace that emit a mosquito repellent.

If you eat a lot of fruit, cut out bananas. They can smell it through your sweat and sebaceous (oil) glands. It can be detected through the bug spray.

Mosquitos are attracted to your body temp so you are a bit stuffed, especially if you sweat. The only thing you can really do is cover up or get really hairy.

My uncle works in the swamps and he came up with a very effective home remedy to not get bitten by mosquitos. He eats these garlic pills he made. You can just eat some garlic and when you sweat it onto your skin it will repel the mosquitos. Good luck.

I have heard if you take a bounce sheet from the dryer( a strong scented one) and rub it on you and put it in like a pocket of your clothes afterward it will keep the bugs and misquitos away. Also Avon makes a skin so soft bug and misquitos lotion to keep the bugs away, it is in a green bottle. Good luck:)
p.s. to get the bites healed use hydrocortizone creme for itch or benedryl lotion, then to heal the scares use neosporane. Happy bug fighting.lol

some ppl are more susceptible to mosquito bites than others. it has something to do with the amt. of CO2 that they produce. also from what they eat. stay away from lasagna and tomato products … shown to increase mosquito biting. Try something with a lot of DEET in it. Make sure you buy it fresh and put it on way before you go outside to make sure it absorbs. Carry it with you to reapply when you sweat. There are also some herbal derived sprays, even stuff with garlic in it, around but I’m not sure if they work. Can’t you try something simple like wear thicker clothing and around your neck and arms and legs? (or is it too hot?) . Why do you have to walk so early (mosquitoes love the dawn and dusk) and maybe stay away from wet swampy areas.

avon Skin so soft mixes half and half with rubbing alcohol.
Vicks vap-o rub
dont eat bananas , the way the body processes the banana attracts the female mosquito
Avoid wearing dark coloured clothing, as this attracts mosquitoes
Avoid wearing perfume, as this attracts mosquitoes
The hours from sunset to sunrise are peak mosquito biting times

smoke, I dont mean cigarette, well you could, but any kind of smoke will do.
Other popular methods of household mosquito control include using small electrical mats, mosquito repellent vapour, and mosquito coil, all containing a form of the chemical allethrin. Mosquito repellent candles containing Citronella oil is another method to keep mosquitoes at bay. Some lesser known methods use the cultivation of plants like wormwood or sagewort, lemon balm, lemon grass, lemon thyme and the mosquito plant (Pelargonium) which act against mosquitoes. However scientists have determined that these plants are effective only when the leaves are crushed and used.

Mosquitoes are attracted to carbon dioxide. More specifically, they are attracted to certain chemicals carried in that carbon dioxide. This is called a carbon dioxide signature because people differ in the chemicals that they release. This is why some people get bit more then other people.
Scientist have proven that the chemicals that attract mosquitoes are Lactic Acid related and another attractant is fatty acids being released in the human carbon dioxide signature.
So I would advise not eating as many fatty foods and don’t drink milk while you’re out there. Also, catnip oil has recently been proven to be very effective in masking your signature,
P.S. I would avoid DEET, it does change your carbon dioxide signature, but it also contains allot of other unnecessary poisons intended to kill the mosquitoes. It has been proven these same chemicals will kill / harm you!

I read the answers to your question and Man, what a bunch of crap! Yes, garlic or garlic tablets help, as does tomato sauce (eat it, don’t rub your body with it). Ask a pharmacist for the best insect repellant. “Off” makes several different mixtures, but there are other brands, as well. Pharmacist will know more or you can do Google search for the best or a comparison of brands. Do not wear perfume. They may be attracted to your shampoo or deoderant, so shower AFTER you go for your walk.

wear clothes thata cover up more if possible then make sure you don’t have sugary/sweet smelling thing on you, then try bug spray. Read the label, some only last for about an hour. Also get ones that are sweatproof.

I would suggest picking a different time of day to take your walk. Mosquitoes are often out in the early mornings and evenings more than the afternoon. This will help so you are less susceptible to their bits. Even if I use a bug repellent, it doesn’t always work for me either. Believe it or not it also depends on the color clothing you are wearing too. Do a little research on the Internet, that will give you a little more information on mosquito’s.

Skin color and clothing color contrast is what attracts mosquitoes.
If you’re white, avoid wearing dark clothes.
If you’re black, avoid wearing light colored clothes.
And I second the alcohol/tobacco/garlic/skin-so-soft ideas. Those do work.
An article I ran accross on Google news, and
