Is it normal for lots of mosquitoes during the fall months?
For the past few years, Iv noticed that between October to later Novemeber maybe early December, when its becoming real cold…somehow mosquitoes find their way in the house( though they also appear during the summer months, just in these months more often)..My windows are always closed…door always closed..i dont have any breeding sight near my home nor any stagnant water….How are they getting inside? These mosquitoes seem bigger then the summer months, and are very sluggish and easy to kill…Sometimes i find 2-3 in my house at once and a new one seems to pop after killing one.. Once around December I saw about 8 mosquitoes total in one day…I kept killing them and more kept appearing..It was real annoying.. I really hate mosquitoes and they haunt me for almost half the year..Iv gotten insomnia cause of them because i dread at their presence, their annoying buzzing and painful bites and of course risk of diseas…..I dont wanna use any pesticides cause i fear they will harm me.. So how do i get rid of these annoyoing things once and for all so i can sleep at night? Iv tried DEET repellents…candles but they do not work…Actually i can swear that the Deet repellents actually attract them to my direction even more……hmm maybe they are mutants ( i live in New york city btw)

I would watch out for these mosquitoes. The longer they have been “around” the more likely some of them carry West Nile.
My dad got bit late last September and spent almost two months in hospital, seriously fighting for his life for a good week or two. The elderly and young are more likely to experience the “worst” West Nile symptoms (encephalitis) and West Nile’s only intent is to kill. Most people only develop flu-like symptoms but that 1 percent had to be my dad!
I remember them saying that about the “old” mosquitoes likely carrying the disease so do try to stomp them out. Clear out any standing water but in the Fall there are lots of places including rotting leaves etc. for them to continue growing. Another problem with longer seasons and warmer temps I suppose.
No doubt they become immune to that Deet…they do like the scent I’m sure…that Deet causes cancer so don’t put it on your skin!!! The candles don’t do a DARNED thing except make the stores richer. It’s been proven. So spare your lungs the toxic effects.
Put a net over your bed…you can buy them anywhere…IKEA sells them for about $20, hang from ceiling and enclose your bed!
Build a bat house outside as bats gobble them up too.

There are many different types of mosquitoes and they are seasonal. There has to be standing water around somewhere, not necessarily right by your place and they will get in through the smallest spaces. Try growing citronella or lemon geranium on your window sill. Maybe that will help. I know they are annoying b******s, and I sympathize with being one of the chosen. I too, seem to be particularly delicious to the little beasts.
DEET repellents do work. The problem is; mosquitoes are attracted to CO2 emissions. Think of it like a force field. They know there’s food there because they sense your breathing, but they can’t find a place to land because of the DEET. So, they buzz around and around looking for a bare spot, meanwhile driving you nuts.
I realize they carry diseases but you must relax. If you keep yourself in good health you should be fine.
My perspective is this. If I did manage to kill all the freakin’ mosquitoes in the world that would be great. Then, many frogs, birds, bats, etc. would die of starvation and that would be very, very bad. That would make me so upset and distracted that I’d stop paying attention and wander into traffic and get hit by a bus, which would really suck. I’d rather get bit by mosquitoes.
