I live in the basement of a house and am only flea fogging the basement, do I have to evacuate the top floors?
The basement is the only place in the house that has carpeting–so if fleas live upstairs, they don’t really have anywhere to go (hard wood and leather couches don’t seem like their cup of tea). There are also four cats living upstairs that are flea-treated and wear flea collars, so they’ve never had a problem up there. I want to bomb only my apartment in the basement (which has a door at the top of the stairs), so can I hang out upstairs while the fogger is going on? Do I have to evacuate all the cats and people who live upstairs?
(Unrelated, but also a fear…do I have to clean my mattress somehow after setting off a fogger in my bedroom? What about my clothes?)
Thanks so much for your help!

I would think that the upstairs would also have to be evacuated but I’m not sure on that, if you have concerns about using the foggers, I’d suggest getting some sevin dust (you can get it in any lawn and garden store and I believe hardware stores as well) and sprinkle it on the carpets then vacuum, I’ve actually done this myself and it’s very effective, also sprinkle it around the yard works like a charm since doing this my cats have yet to have a single flea.

Since you’re living in the basement I assume you don’t own the place, and, as such, have a landlord.
I would ask the landlord before you set off the bomb. Also, if it was me, I wouldn’t hang about while the bomb was going off, and I wouldn’t let me pets, either. Those things are poison, man!
Good luck.
