I have an upcoming outdoor family event to attend to, but don’t feel like going..for the following..what do ..?
you think? I’ve been invited to a party, which will be like a BBQ in the patio of a relative’s house. This relative lives in a very woodsy area..and it’ll be quite hot and humid on this day. Like clockwork, I always leave (it’s held yearly) with large welts of mosquito bites from his home, despite dousing myself with repellent before arriving there.. it sucks. I have a nearly allergic reaction to big bites..when I get them (the large ones), I feel almost paralyzed and want to just stay home all day and ice the affected areas. It takes about a week and a half for them to go down substantially and not bother me anymore. Now, knowing this, I want to avoid attending the party this year. Plus, I’m in between jobs now and I don’t feel like staying home all week after getting bitten up, and feeling immobile. That would rob me of time I could have had at the library continuing my job search. It’s awkward..if I don’t go, I know people in my extended family will frown. Plus, get this..I have another family gathering (this one indoors..which is good) to attend to later in the week, and more or less, most of the people attending the outdoor party will be at this indoor one too. Decisions, decisions…

So what if someone frowns. I have heard of people recovering from that. If you don’t want to then don’t go.

Don’t go to the BBQ and if anyone frowns about it, tell them you hope mosquitoes bite them on the a.s.s.
