Does my Kitten have lice?
Hello, my name is Beka and I am not sure if my kitten has lice. He is 8 months old and he runs about like a normal kitten should, and his itching isn’t that outrageous. Although, I’ve been noticing rather small, black clusters of “crumbs” and or “eggs” deep in his fur, almost where his roots are. They are rather close to his skin. At first I thought he was just young and his skin was dry, because they have been present since I have gotten him quite some time ago. Never have I found a small insect until today. His fur is pretty long and it’s quite hard to find them, I have one that is currently trapped under a glass on my counter, and my kitten is currently locked in my bathroom, [with food, water, kitty litter, etc..] He does have a tick and flea collar on, but I don’t think it is doing much. Is there shampoo made for kittens with lice? Should I bring him to the vet, with the insect that I currently have? can I catch the lice from him? Should I keep him off my couches and beds?????????

You need to take him to the vet!

It sounds more possible that your kitten has fleas. Fleas typically leave what you are describing as crumbs… If those “crumbs” turn red like blood that’s what I would go with.
Lice glue their eggs to the hair shaft and are tiny and white.
You should probably as at the vets what kind of flea preparations they recommend.

You can take him to the vet, but you might want to try a groomer first. They can probably identify if this is lice or fleas and take care of it for you.

It’s probably fleas. You should take your kitty to the vets and they can tell you exactly why “kitty” is scratching and prescribe the right flea medication that will do the trick.
You may have to “bomb” your house if fleas are the problem.
I would deal with “Kitty” first, then worry about the house.
You should bring him to the vet, no insect necessary, they will diagnose his problem. At this point, I don’t think it matters if “Kitty” goes on the couches or beds. It’s probably too late.
