there is an ant or termites in my lawn. Is there a difference between black carpenters ants and termites?

Yes, there is a difference. While they both eat wood, the body shapes are quite a bit different. Carpenter ants are large black ants (1 inch long) and termites are brown with white bodies (1/2 inch long).

Termites: Straight Antennae, Wings of Equal Size, Thick Waist
Carpenter Ants: Elbowed Antennae, Wings of Unequal Size, Thin Waist
