ants
I found a carpenter ant nest from following ants and they all came back in this 1 little crack in the wood. I blocked it off with a card so they cant get in or out. This was a few hours ago. Now several ants are trying to get back in. I have no idea what I should do. Let them be? kill them? spray? poison? take the card out?
Please dont say call a professional because if i need to i will but i mean for right now at this moment what should i do

Well you definately don’t want carpenter ants in your house to eat the wood and multiply so getting rid of them would be good. What if you just put some tape tightly along the crack to hold them in.? Then tomorrow maybe you could find out what the best thing to kill them with would be. Sorry I don’t have a better suggestion and I don’t normally like killing things, but if they are going to cause trouble then they can’t stay!

Unless you have some boric acid at home, you’ll have to go and get some pesticide to take care of them
Do it ASAP as they are extremely destructive to homes……

you probably won’t be able to get to the nest in the wall your self…if you keep the entrance blocked, they will create a new opening…there are some northern species that can do damage, but most species are actually just a nuisance, even though they on the whole are listed as a structure damaging insect. Probably do nothing until a pro can get by to rid the nest for you….if you come across a pro that is stating they are destroying your house and want a chunk of change to get rid of them, find another pro.
