How can I make an ant bait without Borax?

I am trying to get rid of ghost ants in my house. I will pick up some Terro Liquid Ant Bait later on, but for now I need something for my INVADED room. There is no food lying around (99.99% sure), but they are crawling everywhere, living in small holes in the wall. I need to make a bait. I have the sweet stuff to attract them, but need a poison. Germ-X, Windex, Hydrogen Peroxide? Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Boric Acid works great. I had an ant problem this spring and mixed the boric acid with crumbled up potato chips in an empty toilet paper roll which I taped at one end. The greasy smell of the chips draws them into the one area where you set up the bait. I then surrounded the roll with cinnamon powder. The ants don’t like it and won’t cross it.
Determine where the ants are coming in and set up the trap nearby. You will then see a steady stream of ants going back and forth. They are taking the food back to the Queen Ants in the nests. Eventually this will kill them. It could take several weeks, but it works. I haven’t had any ant problems since the spring.
