Black ants! Why won’t they leave me alone? How can i get rid of them?

These things invade my apartment every spring/summer. They are the black ones, kinda big, but not huge. They don’t seem to like sweets or crumbs like the brown ants do, so the poison traps don’t work. When I call the landlord, they tell me they have to put down poison for the entire building (not just my apartment) and supposedly they schedule the exterminators , but I never see any difference. There are like 12 of these black ants crawling on my stuff (or me) at any given minute. I can’t even bring a girl over 
what do the cucumber peels do? kill them? Repel them?

Leave cornmeal in the area where the ants are. This kills ants as they cannot digest cornmeal. When they take the cornmeal back to their colony, it will kill them off as well. Nontoxic as well.

Sprinkle baby powder around the edges of you room. And where ever they are.

I prefer to use Boric acid. They love the stuff. They are all over it for a few days and then like magic there’s no more ants. Its cheap too
The product I use is called Terro and runs about $ 2.50.
